Citizens Insurance has mailed thousands of Florida residents letters questioning the status of the letter recipient's homestead exemption.
The letter asks for a "Control Number" or "Exemption Number", which is actually your parcel number (the 18 digit number separated by slashes. For example: 01/02/03/45678/000/0010).
You can check the status of your exemption by referring to your 2007 Truth In Millage (TRIM) Notice (2008 TRIM Notices will be mailed in late August), or by clicking on this link to search our database.
Search by name, address or parcel number. If you have benefit of homestead exemption the word "Yes" will appear next to the word "Homestead" in the upper left section (See example below).
